Scripture about worry
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:6-7, NIV

Worry can’t help fix your problems. Only God can. God wants you to rely on Him to take care of your needs and to surrender all your worries to Him, with thanksgiving for the things He has done. No concern is too big or too small.
Worrying shows a lack of trust in Him and is also an act of disobedience. When you take refuge in Jesus, He promises to fill your heart with His peace that surpasses understanding no matter how stressful the situation you may be facing looks like in the natural.
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. – Matthew 11:28-30, NIV
Jesus invites you to trust Him and have a personal relationship with Him. When life feels overwhelming, He wants you to bring your burdens to Him and lean on Him for strength. He promises to give you rest and make your load easier to bear.
Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest? – Luke 12, 25-26, NIV
Instead of wasting your energy worrying, read these scriptures about worry and put your faith in God. He is in control, and His plans will prevail. Worrying won’t prevent what you fear from happening. All it will do is take your focus off God and rob you of today’s peace and strength.
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. – Matthew 6:34, NIV
Jesus tells us not to worry about the future, but rather to stay focused on the present and take one day at a time. When you get caught up in worrying about tomorrow, you miss seeing what God is doing in your life today.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. – Proverbs 3:5-6, NIV
At the heart of all worry is trying to take care of things yourself that only God can do. God wants you to trust Him and let Him lead you and direct the way you should go. He will walk with you through whatever challenges you may face.
If you put your faith in the Lord and walk in His ways, you will be like a tree planted by the water that has no worries even in a time of drought. But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when the heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit. – Jeremiah 17:7-8, NIV
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. –Jeremiah 29:11, NIV
God is in control, and He has a plan for your life. If you are a believer, your future is fully secured. You do not need to worry.
“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed – or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” – Luke 10:41-42, NIV
Instead of letting your mind be scattered and worried about many things, focus on what is most important right now.
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” – Psalm 46:10, ESV
When you worry you are undermining your trust in God and questioning His power. The Lord wants you to be still so He can help you. If you stay in His presence, no storm will ever overcome you.
You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. – Isaiah 26:3, NIV
The Lord promises to give you perfect peace if you trust Him and keep your focus on Him regardless of what is happening around you.
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the bird of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? And why doyou worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you – you of little faith? – Matthew 6:25-30, NIV
If we could pick only one Scripture about worry, it would be this passage that summarizes it all. God has control over everything around you. He holds all of His creation together perfectly. Worrying about tomorrow is a waste of time. He knows what you need, and if you put Him first in your life and focus on trusting and obeying Him, He will provide it all at the right time.
Your relationship with your heavenly Father is more important than anything else. Put your life into His hands. He will never desert you or neglect your needs. If God cares and provides for the birds of the air and the flowers of the field, how much more will He do so for you who are of much greater value to Him?
