5 Bible Verses About Peace
Orange County Christian Counseling
The word peace suggests a sense of tranquility, quietness, and calmness. This is a constant state of being that most of us would prefer to live in. However, the realities of life sometimes bring situations and circumstances that are beyond our control that threaten or disturb us. In the absence of it, we deal with turmoil, chaos, and agitation. Find comfort and encouragement from the Bible verses about peace found in this article.
The Bible shows us that it is Satan’s sole purpose to cause chaos, panic, and destruction. We are told, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.” (John 10:10, NIV) Jesus Christ is described in the book of Isaiah 9:6 (NIV) as the Prince of Peace.
5 Bible Verses About Peace
As Christians, we are blessed to have Jesus Christ on our side. We are fortunate to have the Bible, which provides guidance and light as we navigate through life. When you are facing a situation that threatens or steals your peace, consider these five Bible verses about peace. Meditate on them to claim back your sense of tranquility.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. – John 14:27, NIV
What a beautiful promise Jesus makes to those who believe and fully trust in Him. He makes us a promise to give us peace in abundance, as only He can, without judgment and without expecting much in return. If you meditate on this verse, you will realize that the only thing He expects from us in exchange is to have courage and believe in Him.
This confirms that we must look to the Lord for peace because He himself is peace. He has the power to restore to us what we may have lost. For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility. – Ephesians 2:14, NIV
But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. – 1 Timothy 6:6-8, NIV
We are reminded by this humbling verse, that our time here on earth is fleeting. We need to focus on godliness and be content in every season of our lives because our greater purpose is not here on earth. Realizing and embracing this truth helps us stay focused on only things that matter.
Now may the Lord of Peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you. – 2 Thessalonians 3:16, NIV
Through this verse, we are again reminded that God is the Lord of peace. God loved all of us enough to give us His only Son to show us that He is our Father who loves us without bounds. With this in mind, why would we doubt His ability to give us peace if we pray and ask for it?
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. – Romans 15:13, NIV
The Holy Spirit has the power to give us hope that overflows. It does not matter what hopeless situation that we may find ourselves in. God can replace that hopelessness with joy and peace if we trust Him.
